This year we have been working on a campaign to promote sustainable timber. Deforestation is extremely damaging for the environment and it’s rampant. Illegal logging is responsible for the loss of tropical rainforest area the size of Belgium every year.
The New Zealand Timber Importers Association (NZTIA) and NZ Imported Timber Trade Group (NZITTG) advocate for the sustainable management of forests, and have launched the Ethical Hardwood campaign. Its goal: 100% ethically-sourced hardwood into New Zealand. We launched the campaign’s website recently.
