Q: Where’s the best place to hide a dead body?

A: Page two of Google’s search results.

With a 90% stranglehold on the search market, Google has been the gateway to the World Wide Web for as long as (almost) anyone can remember. If your website feels like a ghost town that no-one has visited since the 90s, then you need to increase your online visibility – and the best ways to do that are with our old friend Google.

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)

  • The search results on page one of Google get 92% of all clicks (Chitika)
  • Which means… all the other pages put together get only 8% of clicks.

Search engine traffic is usually the best quality traffic you’re ever going to get. Google is trusted, and people don’t browse or waste time in Google (that’s what Facebook is for). Instead, they are using it specifically to find something or to answer a question.

And as the joke points out, if you’re not on the first page of Google, hardly anybody is going to find you, because hardly anybody looks beyond page one (including you!).

At Mogul we’ve been optimising websites for search engines for more than 10 years, and while we’ve seen a lot of innovations come and go, the basics haven’t changed. All of our websites are built according to best practice SEO, but that alone is not enough to reach page one in Google.

Search engine optimisation is an ongoing process and needs constant attention. Over the months or years since your website was launched, there is a good chance that it has accumulated basic SEO issues that are stopping it from achieving its potential; like thin content, duplicate content, missing titles and meta tags, redirect chains, and outdated sitemaps.

The good news is that it’s not especially difficult to increase your Google rankings – if you have the experience, expertise and insights.

That’s where our SEO campaign plans come in. If you’re in a competitive market, or you really need to see some results, we can help.

Google Adwords

SEO is all about organic traffic, so it can take time to build up. If you need immediate traffic or you need more control over the messaging, then we can help with Google Adwords. Like organic search traffic, Google Adwords clicks come from people who are actively searching for your product or service. They are not browsing or wasting time like they would on other ad-supported websites.

Adwords gives you instant results, which is great for delivering a constant stream of traffic, for limited time offers or brand new websites. It’s also great for filling in the gaps in your SEO strategy. You can’t rank well for everything, so smart businesses use Adwords to shore up the areas where they are weakest.

With Adwords, your position in the rankings is up to you (depending on your budget), you are in complete control of the messaging of your ads and it’s easy to compare different versions of the same ads to maximise the bang you’re getting for your buck.

We have many years’ experience in designing creative, cost-effective, data-driven Adwords campaigns for a wide range of clients in New Zealand and around the world.
