When Bruce Mactaggart asked Mogul to be a sponsor of the Festival of Hockey we jumped at the chance. Not just because we love hockey, but because events like these will put Hawke’s Bay on the world map and we are heavily invested in the sustainability of living and working from this region.
The first task was to design a logo that felt like it represented a world-class hockey tournament. We decided a colourful crest that had an obvious hockey connection would be the way to go, with considerations like that it would be used on flags, signs and merchandise:
Next up – we wanted to create a website that encapsulated the excitement of the inaugural tournament in 2014. Luckily we had the fabulous photos Hamish Burson took last year which inspired us to design a website that was image-led and copy-light.
The site hosts a live streaming app so people can tune in from around the world. Bruce’s older daughter Sam is currently at the International College in Armenia and hasn’t missed a game!
We were delighted that FoH were keen to use Strea.ma to connect fans, followers and players from around the globe into one place – http://www.hockeyfestival.nz/#streama
We’ve been to one of the game so far – Argentina v Black Sticks – which was a very cool, very fast, dynamic game, that the Black Sticks won! The girls loved being there and seeing a top-level game. They also LOVED having their photo taken with Gemma Flynn’s partner:
All in all a fabulous event and one we were very happy to be involved with. Looking forward to next year!
