Each quarter we expose the talented individuals behind the Mogul cloak.

This month we touch base with Jamie Campbell and find out what makes him tick. Let’s get into it…

Jamie 300x300

How long have you been at Mogul and what is your position?

Nearly 6 months – I’m Mogul’s Agency Lead. In short, I’m responsible for business planning and performance, developing team/culture, business development and supporting the future growth of the company.

Tell us a bit about your background. What did you do previously?

I started my career as a Project Accountant before getting involved in marketing and strategy, and I have been working as an independent project manager for corporate clients for the last 8 years. I’ve had some overseas stints in London and Singapore, and now back home in Hawkes Bay! My goal for the last few years has been to transition away from corporate roles into a leadership role within a smaller company, ultimately playing an integral part in growing and developing that company.

We’ve seen your impressive bicycle out the front of the office. Are you training for anything at the moment?

Generally I just love being outdoors, whether it’s on the bike or in the water… but yes, I just completed K2 which is a bicycle race around the Coromandel Peninsula. I have a couple of races coming up in the New Year. There is a pretty decent cycling scene here in Hawke’s Bay so always plenty to keep you motivated.

To you, what is the best thing about living and working in Hawke’s Bay?

Hawke’s Bay has some great natural resources to indulge in – pretty much open access to rivers, lakes, the ocean, roads, etc. I’m originally from Hawke’s Bay so my family and in-laws are close by which is great and having the opportunity to raise my family in a similar environment to what I grew up in is cool. Having been away for so long you really appreciate what you’ve got on the back doorstep.

Whilst the location is fantastic, a move to Hawkes Bay wasn’t just about ‘better lifestyle’. I wanted a role that was both challenging and rewarding, working for a company that was doing really interesting and high quality project work. Mogul generates a significant amount of its revenue from offshore but is a really proud, local business that identifies with the local community. I enjoy the fact we have a diverse range of clients and work locally, nationally and internationally. We also have a cool software product called Strea.ma which adds another dimension to the business.

And finally, where is your favourite place to eat/dine here in Havelock North?

Hugo Chang. I love Asian food after spending a bit of time in Singapore… great cocktails, good wine list and relaxed atmosphere.
